art002e024520 (April 6, 2026) – The Artemis II crew captured this view, which includes the Aristarchus Plateau, during their lunar flyby. Dark volcanic terrain contrasts with the brighter, heavily cratered surrounding surface. The plateau contains volcanic deposits, including volcanic glass previously identified through spectral reflectance measurements, making it an important area for studying the Moon’s volcanic history and surface composition.
