NASA's Perseverance Mars rover used its Mastcam-Z camera to capture this rocky hilltop nicknamed "Rockytop" on July 24, 2022, the 507th Martian day, or sol, of the mission. The feature is named after Rockytop in Shenandoah National Park. A key objective for Perseverance's mission on Mars is astrobiology, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life.
